The Best 5 San Diego

The Best 5  San Diego

Heading to San Diego for a weekend or for a few days? Here are our Best 5 things to do while visiting this costal town.

1. USS Midway

A fantastic few hours can be spent at the maritime museum the USS Midway Museum – a floating city at sea.  Tickets are about $20 for adults (cheaper online) with children under 5 free.  This is a wonderful sight full of history.  There are headphones to listen to the audio info.  The kids are allowed to sit in planes, push the buttons and get a feel for being a fighter pilot.

2. Outlet Shopping

SHOPPING HEAVEN!!!  I’m not a shopper but the prices compared to Australia made these outlets an amazing place.  We headed to the Las Americas Premium Outlets, the link is here to the shops there.  They are located 20mins south from Downtown San Diego right on the border to Mexico.  The other outlets in the San Diego area are Carlsbad Premium Outlets which are located 20mins north of San Diego.

3. Coronado

Crossing the seemingly never ending bridge, the distinctive San Diego-Coronado Bridge,  to the stunning Coronado.  There are pristine beaches amongst this small-town village.  There is also the beautiful historical building, Hotel del Coronado.  There is easily a half day to spend at Coronado for the whole family.

4. Gaslamp Quarter

The Gaslamp Quarter is the place to get lost for the day.  A foodie and shopping haven.  The Quarter is 16 square-blocks of Victorian-era buildings mixed with modern architecture.  Lots of live entertainment venues and bars to enjoy into the evening..

5.Seaworld and San Diego Zoo

We had a wonderful time at SeaWorld San Diego and also at the San Diego Zoo.  When we visited SeaWorld in January the school holidays in USA had ended and there was not very many people at SeaWorld.  The dolphin petting pool was a bucket list item and we could have spent hours playing and touching the dolphins.  There are a few rides and shows to watch.  The Zoo was a little busier but a wonderful day.  Lots of animals to see and lots of walking.  We did use the cable car a few times to save our legs.
